Next BS: Saturday 5pm, led by Constance
(since I will be busy with anni prep OUR WHOLE DG MUST DRESS UP OKAY NO EXCUSES!!!) :)

To YiLing: Singapore weather is getting a bit unpredictable... raining out of nowhere haha! Do you have rains in Aussie? Try walking in one!!! :) COOL. Haha. Your post is entitled you went to chatswood presbyterian... but you never said what you did or saw in it!!! Is it near where you stay? Do your friends go there??? Are you going to serve there? : )

i went to chatswood presbyterian today

australia's starting to get cold. but the weather changes quite drastically in a day. as in, the morning and evenings will be cold, and the afternoon will be really hot. and at times, u can be both cold and hot at the same time! actually, it's just due to the presence of strong cold winds, but the sun is still piercing hot!

other than that, i'm still eating bread. haha. but i have proper food for dinner(: food outside is relatively more expensive, so i'll usually pack sandwich for lunch in school. come to think of it, i wont do such things if i were back in singapore. i wld just buy lunch outside if i've got school. who packs lunch anyway right? haha, but it's quite common here in australia(: and it's good to save money...

school has been okay i guess. assignments are starting to come in, but easter break's coming in 2 weeks time(: looking forward to that!

i thank God for a really good week this week. thank God for brothers and sisters in Christ i've met here in australi(:

pray for me as i continue to cope with school. pray that i'll continue to have a close walk with God.

Nehemiah's God given desire in his heart to step up and begin the job of restoration of jerusalem which was in ruins/broken-down conditions. After 52 days of hard work, plenty of prayer (and alot of qt!) and oppositions, Nehemiah and his crew rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.

Q: is there something in your life that lies broken and ruined? do you feel the temptation to believe that it's beyond repair? remember Nehhmiah's story and seek God's help in starting to rebuild today.

HELLO GIRLS!

HAHAHA! I'm so PROUD OF ALL OF YOU! XD
I'm serious! I'm really encouraged by your service during Youth Sunday!!!

To Joey... who support sang! I could hear your voice haha!
To Constance and Shona and Noelyn who ushered.. THANKS Constance for guiding them when I couldn't ...SHONA WAS IN PINK! (wear pink more often you look really sweet! :p)
and NOELYN WAS IN BLACK (are you mourning haha?) was it fun was it fun?
To Desiree... she couldn't usher because she was in Children's ministry!!! HAHA! playing with kids!!! Are you tired? I always get tired after Sunday School haha!

I SHOULD KEEP THE BULLETIN AS A MOMENTO! Haha!!! I'm sure that God is pleased by your service.. and oh oh! Pastor Kien Seng said that there was a couple who visited church, and they were impressed that our youths could serve by leading the service!!! Cool right! Our service is for the glory of our WONDERFUL ALMIGHTY LOVING GOD!

Way to go!

unity and humility

i like what odj says for today's devotion.

philippians 2:1-11
...make me truly happy by...loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose...be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves... (v2-3)

question to think about:
when was the last time you had a squabble or experienced conflict with a family member or friend? What was the centre of your disagreement? How long did it take you to resolve the conflict? How was your joy affected by the conflict?

conflict between you and the people you love strips you of the full measure of Christian joy.

purpose of paul:
help them experience the full measure of joy, by reducing the friction in their relationships.

only way to happen:
-to show one another the deep love that God had shown them (2:2)
this love was unconditional, and nondiscriminating. it was a love for one another that should be growing, not eroding.
-reduce conflict by working together with one mind and purpose (v2)
doesn't mean to think and act alike. it meant that they should be striving passionately for the same goal (which is the glory of God and His kingdom)

i know i'm just typing everything out from odj, but would love to keep a record of it to remind ourselves to be united in Christ and like Jesus, to be humble. it's inevitable to experience conflicts in this fallen human relationship. but it doesn't mean we can't have no conflicts right! we just need to try to reduce the conflicts so that we can experience the fullness of the joy God has so graciously given to us!

i had children ministry duty today, :D

Saturday, March 7, 2009

something from my devotion about a month ago... was just looking back at my journals, and found it quite apt as a reminder to myself, and hopefully encourages you too(:

deut 8:1-8
"...led you all the way... to humble you and to test you..."

#1:
God leads me ALL the way. specifically to me, throughout my four years here in sydney. there is no need to worry cos He leads, guides me through ALL my steps. To be led, is the reassurance that you CAN follow someone (who knows the way), and know that you WILL NEVER be alone.

#2:
in the desert... to humble you and test you.
my four years here can be likened to be a desert: being away from the comfort zone of life.
God uses such occassions to HUMBLE and TEST me; to put me through the fire to refine me. it is the hottest and most pain-staking process, and yet after that, you know you'll be totally purified (in a sense).

learning humility, and being tested may be a difficult journey. but i'm thankful for God's promises that He will LEAD me ALL the way. for He is the Creator, who existed from everlasting to everlasting. He knows the way, knows the path that we are treading on. Most of all, He knows everything about us. (Psalm 139:1)

i may not know exactly and understand what each of you are going through, but please remember: God knows and understands<3

Please laugh!

Something funny my brother Ernest did!!! haha!

*Ernest walks out of the toilet, with a towel wrapped around his waist*
Ernest: Zhei, there's water in my ear!
Me: It's okay, it will evaporate.
Ernest: But everytime I hit my head I can hear the water slosh around!
Me: It will flow out la...
Ernest: But what if it FLOWS IN?!

Oh too cute...

Hello girls,

This is your DGL.
Who is on the verge of.
I am in no position to encourage you girls
(because I need encouragement too)
BUT, if you read this (haha)
Be encouraged!
Because I am putting love and care in the post
For U!

'Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength'
Isaiah 40:30

I have to learn to hope in the Lord too. We can all learn together!
Pray everyday! God wants us to talk to him daily. (:
